Better Care Assisted Living Software

BCAL is intended to support common assisted living and supportive housing business functions. BCAL assesses the client’s functional needs, their ability to manage these needs, and takes into account the level of informal support required in order to make decisions about the appropriate type of care to be provided. Since BCAL combines standardization with flexibility, you are able to utilize BCAL to meet your facility’s individual needs.

BCAL is also currently the only software company in Canada licensed for the interRAI MDS AL tool.

BCAL is comprised of six major components.

Address Book

The address book contains client demographic information and allows for association of contacts such as family, friends, staff, physicians, pharmacists and more. In addition, BCAL's flexibility allows for storage of other extraneous information such as Blue Cross, Veteran's information and more.

Care Information

All care information pertinent to assisted living and supportive housing is stored in BCAL consistent with the interRAI MDS standards. The scales this information generates is useful for care planning, evaluation, and quarterly reviews. In addition to the MDS scales, BCAL also tracks safety concerns, recreational interests, unscheduled care events and a multitude of other tools enabling you to provide your residents with the best possible care.

Schedule To-do List

After entering the services provided at your care facility into BCAL's administration section, you can associate these services with your residents. The scheduler is fully flexible, allowing for scheduling services daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, for a finite period of time or for one time only. The to-do list generated from these associations provides an unparallelled tool for your staff that shows personalized care information and ensures your residents receive their agreed upon level of care and an electronic record of when these services were provided and by whom.

Billing

Any of the services entered into BCAL's administration window can be coupled with an associated cost, such as rent, housekeeping or meal services. Once services are performed and verified, these costs are tallied and summarized on a generated invoice. These invoices can be printed or exported into a number of formats friendly to most off-the-shelf accounting programs.

Reports

BCAL's extensive reporting system focuses not only on assisted living operations and care assessment, but also on business functions such as cost and service tracking. The customizable administrative trends report is ideal for meeting any regulatory obligations in regards to reporting for health authorities or parent companies. The scheduled care, unscheduled care and scales and indexes reports also provide essential tools for quarterly reviews and evaluating resident progress should they need to consider other housing options. In the near future, BCAL customers operating more than once care facility will be able to run reports across multiple sites in real time.

Community

Education, involvement and sharing of ideas within the assisted living community is important to us, which has led us to integrate portions of the BCAL website into the application. In addition to extensive options for technical support, we encourage our users to use the FAQs and forums share information and ideas on our website. Furthermore, it allows a dialogue with the BCAL development team, making BCAL more effective for its end user community.

BCAL is currently being used to improve care for 2886 assisted living residents across Canada.
